India Post revises parcel tariffs and adds a last-mile-only product

In force · updated 21 August 2026 · reviewed 23 October 2026 · South Asia

The Department of Posts revised tariffs for India Post Parcel (retail) and Speed Post Parcel and introduced India Post Parcel Last Mile, a delivery-only product for bulk and contract customers such as e-commerce firms. India Post's product page sets a 5 kg maximum, booking at a delivery office or a designated parcel hub or processing centre, and delivery within that office's local area. Rates are Rs 15 (delivery office) or Rs 20 (hub) up to 2 kg and Rs 22 or Rs 35 for 2 to 5 kg, plus GST; the page gives the service as effective 1 August 2026 under S.O. 4241 (E) of 31 July 2026. Contract discounts of 5% to 17% by monthly revenue come from a secondary report.

For a parcel A shipper or carrier can now buy delivery-only from India Post from Rs 15 plus GST for a parcel up to 2 kg, instead of paying an end-to-end tariff.

What to prepare

  • Price India Post last-mile injection against own or partner delivery in Tier II and Tier III postcodes
  • Use the official rate table on India Post's product page, and confirm the 5% to 17% contract discount bands, which come from a secondary report, before quoting
  • Test cash-on-delivery remittance and tracking integration before moving volume

Our reading

Together with the May 2026 Flipkart agreement, the new tariff positions India Post as a rural last-mile subcontractor for private networks. The local-area delivery limit means it replaces a carrier's final leg, not its line-haul.
